APEP and Ener-Core Team Up to Reduce Industrial Waste Emissions

April 7, 2015

APEP and Ener-Core, Inc., an Irvine California based company are working on gas pollution solutions and greenhouse gas emissions reduction by converting unusable industrial waste gases into clean power. Ener-Core's patented Power Oxidizer technology is integrated with gas turbines to convert waste gas pollution into a profitable source of clean energy.

The Ener-Core technology can operate on fuel mixtures that are less than 30% methane and below the operating limits for conventional gas turbines or reciprocating engines. In August 2014, Ener-Core and APEP demonstrated for an Ener-Core customer, how the Ener-Core Power Oxidizer technology can operate on mixtures as low as 5-7% methane and 93% to 95% inert gases.

Using the emissions monitoring and fuel mixing capability of the APEP laboratory, Ener-Core continues to test their 250kW product at UCI, and is using data from the testing to develop a larger scale Power Oxidizer for a 1.75MW gas turbine platform.
